Beginner Verb List

The BVL is a list of around 150 verbs, each chosen with the goal of giving new learners a curated list of the most "useful" verbs I could think of. The verbs are organized by theme and separated into groups to try and keep each "section" relatively small to avoid overwhelming students. The BVL mostly focuses on studying and memorizing the verbs using a "Stem-First" approach, meaning you'll mostly be studying and memorizing distinct Stem Forms instead of fully conjugated Index Forms. The Materials also include a Word (docx) file formatted for the Noji (Anki) app, which you can copy/paste to make digital flash cards.

You can download the Beginner Verb List Noji deck and start studying using this link.  The superscripting issue is fixed and the deck is divided into subdecks by category.  It's ready to go.

Beginner Verb List Cards:  General Information, How to Read and Use

This is a pdf with a brief writeup explaining why I made the cards they way they are.  It'll explain why I focused on Stem Forms instead of fully conjugated verbs or sentences, how to read the labels I use, and specific details that are left out of the cards.  If you're having a hard time reading or understanding the Noji (Anki) cards, this will explain it all.

Beginner Verb List Cards (Copy/Paste Format)

This is a Word (docx) file that you can copy/paste into Noji (Anki) to quickly make digital flash cards to help you study. It includes every Stem Form for every verb in the BVL, and instructions on how to upload to Noji.  It also includes the "General Information, How to Read and Use" information, so don't download both if you don't need both.

Download this document (instead of downloading the deck from Noji) if you want to make your own changes, or if you don't use Noji (Anki). I formatted the list with easy copy/pasting into Noji in mind, so I can't guarantee it'll work well with whatever app or resource you use--but hopefully it will!
